UAE named world’s safest country

The UAE has been ranked as the safest country in the world in Numbeo’s 2025 mid-year Safety Index, underscoring the Gulf state’s consistently high scores on personal security and policing. The UAE posted a Safety Index of 85.2, ahead of Andorra (84.8) and Qatar (84.6).
The Numbeo findings were backed up by Gallup’s latest Global Law and Order report, based on 2022 fieldwork and published in late 2023, which gave the UAE a score of 87 out of 100, placing it among the highest-ranked countries worldwide in terms of confidence in local policing and personal security.
According to the 2024 Global Peace Index, the UAE ranked 53rd worldwide, climbing 31 places since 2021 – the largest improvement recorded by any nation over that period. The index, published by the Institute for Economics & Peace, attributed the country’s gains to progress across three key areas: safety and security, ongoing conflict, and militarisation.
Reputation for safety boosts inbound tourism
The UAE’s reputation as one of the world’s most secure countries has helped establish it as a leading tourism and business destination. In the World Economic Forum’s Travel & Tourism Development Index 2024, the UAE ranked 18th globally – the only Middle East and North Africa country in the top 30 – and was among the most improved high-income tourism-driven economies versus 2019.
The WEF index, formerly known as the Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index, evaluates key issues shaping tourism growth – including safety and security – alongside infrastructure and cultural resources. The UAE’s climb to 18th reflects sustained investment and policy focus on the sector, according to the WEF.
