The First Group completes the 7 Emirates Cycle Challenge to raise awareness for child welfare in support of Dubai Cares and Rashid Centre for People of Determination
The First Group completed the 7 Emirates Cycle Challenge with the participation of 20 cyclists over a journey of 550 kilometres across seven Emirates to raise awareness and funds for child welfare and educational support programs in partnership with Dubai Cares, part of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) and the Rashid Centre for People of Determination.
UAE residents were invited to watch the riders' progress on the official channels as they toured the emirates and supported the cause with donations on www.tfg7emirateschallenge.com. The ride was led by elite and pro cyclists Samuel "Samu" Sánchez, former Spanish professional road bicycle racer; Vitor Carvalho, retired pro-cyclist and former member of the UAE National Olympic Cycling Committee; Janez "Jani" Brajkovič, Slovenian racer who finished ninth in Tour de France in 2012 and more recently rode for Adria Mobil; and Nelson Oliveira, Portuguese professional road racing cyclist who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Movistar Team. Alongside the cyclists were C-suite executives and entrepreneurs from across the UAE who played a key role in the completion of this challenge to raise awareness and funds for this cause.
The Cycle Challenge is part of The First Group's flagship ‘Enriching Young Lives' programme to improve the lives of underprivileged children and young people around the world by providing access to world-class early educational and emotional support and opportunities that they would otherwise be denied.
