World's highest theatre venue set for Dubai
Dubai is already home to a number of world record-breaking buildings and entertainment complexes, but that will not stop developers from pushing the boundaries even further. The emirate boasts the tallest tower, highest hotel and biggest shopping mall on the planet and now plans are in place to create the highest theatre venue.According to Arabian Business, an exciting new facility will be launched on the 42nd and 43rd floor of the Shangri La hotel on Dubai's Sheikh Zayed Road.It will host a number of cabaret-style clubs that have already proven popular in Las Vegas, New York and London. These places attract an array of famous faces, with actors Jude Law and Rachel Weisz and musician Moby regularly visiting the Manhattan venue.Prince Harry, Kate Moss and a number of Premier League footballers also frequent the London theatre. The Dubai outlet will be known as "The Act" and backers of the project insist it will be a "toned down" version of the venue in Las Vegas.Simon Hammerstein from Variety Worldwide - the firm that is behind the club - told the news provider that Dubai is in for an "unexpected surprise"."Being the world's highest theatre has got to be one of our unique selling points along with being the first theatre club with dining in the region," he was quoted as saying."As well as that we really set ourselves apart with the international acts that we will be flying in from all over the world including Russia, US, Germany, France and Japan."Dubai has set so many records in the construction sector that hardly anybody was surprised when Guinness World Records suggested it is thinking of opening an office in the city.Speaking to XPRESS last month, head of the organisation's Middle East and North Africa division Talal Omar stated that Dubai Media City could be the perfect place to base itself in the UAE.He added that the move makes sense due to the massive number of records being broken in the emirate in recent years.
