Noel Gallagher set to air new songs during Dubai gig

Noel Gallagher has revealed that he will play a "couple of new songs" when he takes to the stage in Dubai later this month.The former Oasis member also quashed rumours that his set will be packed with hits from the band's heyday.In an interview with TimeOut Dubai, he suggested that the playlist for his show at the Atlantis on March 15th will be somewhat diverse.Gallagher will play "six or seven" songs from the Oasis era, but he stated that some of them will be tunes that a lot of people might not remember."It's not the ones you would imagine," he told the website."I'll do Don't Look Back in Anger, I mean who wouldn't? But it's mainly my High Flying Birds stuff, a couple of new songs, and some obscure Oasis B-sides."The iconic guitarist will not be the only big name to perform during the special concert, which is the first in a series of "Live at Atlantis" events.Former Verve Frontman and successful solo artist Richard Ashcroft will also be appearing, as will esteemed radio DJ Zane Lowe.With such a remarkable line-up, tickets for this musical extravaganza are likely to be in extremely high demand.It seems that Dubai has become something of a second home for some of the UK's most popular indie bands, especially those from Manchester.Gallagher is a fully-fledged Mancunian and Ashcroft hails from nearby Wigan.The Stone Roses recently played a memorable gig in the emirate and another group who epitomised the "Madchester era" of the 1980s and 90s - the Happy Mondays - are also lining up a show in the Gulf.They are set to perform at the Dubai Tennis Stadium in April and it will be the first time that all of the original group members will appear in a live concert in the Middle East.Lead singer Shaun Ryder remarked: "It's as if we've never been apart - so good to all be in the same room again."
