More women are investing in Dubai property, DLD says

The Dubai Land Department (DLD) has confirmed that more and more women are seeking property investments in Dubai.Data given to Gulf News showed that females now account for 23 per cent of the emirate's real estate market and 5,434 wealthy ladies secured new assets in 2012, spending AED 13.3 billion in the process.This is a trend that has been developing for quite some time, as women shelled out AED 10.5 billion on apartments villas and other buildings the year before.Director of residential at Knight Frank Helen Tatham told the news provider that women can relate to property more easily than other investments and they prefer to pour their money into buildings, rather than stocks and shares.Meanwhile, Sandi Saksena, sales manager with Nexus Insurance brokers added that there has been a "positive shift" in the number of females buying property in the UAE."Homebuyers today are single women and the number is growing. Investment in the property is no longer an exclusive male province," she was quoted as saying."Women investors form a small percentage of the total pie until now but it is a growing figure and one to reckon with. Nowadays, a woman, married or unmarried, is taking a keen interest in buying property more than ever before."Ms Saksena suggested that the property sector is attracting a healthy mix of local women from within the Gulf Cooperation Council and expatriates who are looking to move to Dubai on a more permanent basis.Now is a great time to invest in UAE-based real estate, as prices have been climbing in the past 12 months and this is likely to continue throughout 2013.Some amazing new developments are taking shape across the city and investors will be battling it out to secure the most luxurious buildings.
