Dubai’s new landmark developments edge nearer completion

Dubai is a step closer to unveiling two new landmark tourist attractions that will cement its status as a city destination like no other.

The Al Seef heritage project, covering a 1.8km stretch of Dubai Creek, adjacent to Al Fahidi historical district, features contemporary architecture inspired by Old Dubai.

Floating restaurants and market, nearly 500 shops, a marina for private yachts, a main plaza and links to the Dubai water taxi network are all part of the 2.5 million sq metre shopping, dining, entertainment and tourism development.

The destination also features three hotels with a combined 500 rooms including a 200-key heritage hotel offering Arabian hospitality and two contemporary properties of 200 and 150 keys each.

A second phase, set to be completed in the first quarter of next year, will include an authentic souq inspired by 1950s Dubai and additional retail and dining venues.

“By combining traditional and modern design elements, the destination highlights the role the creek has played, and continues to play, in the evolution of Dubai, and reinforces the city’s position as a leading international tourism destination by enriching the experience for visitors and creating new economic opportunities for local businesses,” explained HE Abdulla Al Habbai, group chairman of the developer behind the project.

Meanwhile, One Za’abeel, which is due to be completed in Q4, 2020, features two towers linked by the world’s largest cantilever, The Linx, floating at 100 metres above ground and offering fine-dining restaurants and lounges.

The overall development comprises a luxury hotel, residences, serviced apartments, office spaces and a retail podium.
