World's richest horse race is just days away

We are just days away from the richest horse race on the planet and the whole of Dubai is buzzing with excitement.The Dubai World Cup meeting will take place on March 30th and some of the finest thoroughbreds on earth will be competing at the wonderful Meydan Racecourse.Sponsored by Emirates Airline, the Group One Dubai World Cup race is worth US$10 million to the winner and this year's field is packed full of potential champions.Thousands of punters will flock to the course to see the likes of Royal Delta, Red Cadeaux, Planteur and Animal Kingdom square off in the prestigious event. The occasion will also be beamed to millions of racing fans all over the world.A lot of people fancy Ed Dunlop's Red Cadeaux to emerge victorious in the showcase race and the horse has been brought over to the UAE from Newmarket in England early in order to let him acclimatise to the conditions."It is the end of [a] long season for him but he is so versatile. This is a different challenge for him but we know he will be staying on at the end having gone so close over longer trips elsewhere," commented Dunlop's travelling head lad, Robin Trevor-Jones.Of course, race meetings have never been solely about the action out on the track, they are also a huge social occasion and are the place to be seen. Known as the Sport of Kings, horse racing attracts all manner of wealthy and famous people, and there is no event quite like the Dubai World Cup Carnival.Meydan Racecourse is one of the most glamorous venues on the planet and it will be packed on Saturday.Hotel owners throughout the city stand to make a fortune, as mega-rich horse owners and punters flood into the emirate for the race. With so much money flying about, people who have luxurious villas and apartments in the more exclusive parts of town will be able to charge a premium when renting out their properties during Carnival week.
