Dubai’s campaign to become a global theme park hub is gaining momentum with the city securing the rights to build a 20th Century Fox World theme park.
It follows the momentous international licensing deal signed last week by Al Ahli Holding Group (AAHG) and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products, which will also see the company create the world’s first Fox-branded resort in Dubai.
Described as an “immersive entertainment destination”, 20th Century Fox World, Dubai, which is set to open in 2018, will encompass themed precincts, each featuring unique attractions, rides and retail outlets designed to bring to life the studio’s iconic film and television franchises.
Ice Age, Rio, Planet of the Apes, Aliens, Predator, Night at the Museum, Titanic, The Simpsons and Sons of Anarchy are just some of the films and TV series the park will re-imagine. In addition, a themed retail street will offer visitors unique shopping and restaurant concepts based on Fox Properties.
The Fox-branded resort will also feature a range of premium F&B outlets. The agreement allows AAHG to roll out up to three additional Fox-branded resorts in territories outside Dubai.
“20th Century Fox World, Dubai is the second Fox theme park destination and marks an important step forward in our global theme park strategy,” said Jeffrey Godsick, president of Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products.
“Fox World will be a world-class destination that will help fuel Dubai’s emergence as a global tourism destination.”
He added: “This park builds on the foundation being laid by 20th Century Fox World, Malaysia, currently under construction.”
