Student enrolment continues to increase in Dubai

With real estate prices rising sharply in the past 12 months, it is hardly surprising that investors are flocking back to the UAE.In fact, the markets have recovered so well that a lot of traders are moving to Dubai on a permanent basis.Of course, upping sticks and relocating to another part of the world requires a lot of readjustment and people who do emigrate must ensure their new home has everything they need - especially if they have a family to think of.Aside from the fantastic property investment opportunities, Dubai is also an attractive destination for expats because of its excellent education system.Investors can now move to the Gulf safe in the knowledge that their children will have a plethora of superb schools and universities to choose from.New figures published this week (February 27th) by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) showed that student enrolment in higher education institutions has increased by 11 per cent in the past year.The city now has 53 colleges and universities open to the public, which means youngsters who want to continue learning are spoilt for choice.Dubai has quickly emerged as a global corporate hub and there are a multitude of business courses available to youngsters.In the 2011/12 academic year, a total of 9,139 students graduated from Dubai's universities with some form of degree and the government is confident this will stand the city's economy in good stead, as many of these people will inevitably secure jobs in the emirate."With the greatest number of international branch campuses in the world, the higher education sector continues to grow year on year, providing students with internationally recognised qualifications and preparing them for employment both in Dubai and around the world," commented KDHA director general Dr Abdulla Al Karam.There are now 48,058 people studying in the city in total and this number is likely to rise sharply in the coming years as Dubai's population is boosted by expats from all over the world.
