Over 150 attractions at DSF 2014

More than 150 different attractions will be available at Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) when it runs from January 2nd to February 2nd next year.

Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) released the event calendar for the 19th annual iteration on Saturday (December 21st).

Alongside the emirate's plentiful supply of shopping malls, a number of outdoor locations will be participating and hosting festivities. This includes the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Al Rigga Street, Al Seef Street and The Walk near Jumeirah Beach.

DFRE's chief executive Laila Suhail said: 'With all eyes on Dubai after the Expo 2020 win, we are fully aware that we have to rise up to the expectations as DSF 2014 is the first festival after the announcement.'

Ms Suhail stated this year will provide 'numerous activities to enable maximum exposure and opportunities for visitors to experience the vibrancy of this extravaganza'.

On the opening day (January 2nd) a variety of stage and street performers will take to the city in celebration of the occasion, alongside various family friendly events. A firework display will also be held.

During January 20th, the emirate will host its Vertical Fashion Show by Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall, the world's tallest building and one of the largest shopping centres respectively.

Many of the city's parks will also be hosting performances and displays, offering further outdoor pursuits. This may prove popular with visitors, especially from Europe, where their home country is likely to still be facing the winter cold.

Numerous acts will feature in Burj Park on January 2nd, 9th and 16th, while a music night featuring Egyptian singer Mohammad Mounir and Lebanese artist Nancy Ajram will take place at Zabeel Park on January 24th.

DFS is known first and foremost for its abundant retail opportunities across the sheikhdom's many shopping centres. While larger malls will be offering their own promotions and incentives, next year will see some of the smaller locations, such as Times Square Centre and Etihad Mall, offer raffles for customers as part of the festival.
