Yanni set to perform in Dubai

Looking at the events schedule, 2013 is set to be a memorable year for fans of live music in the UAE.The country welcomed a host of world-class performers in 2012 and even more star-studded shows will take place in the next 12 months.It has been confirmed this week (January 23rd) that popular Greek classical and pop composer Yanni will hold a concert in Dubai this year.Famed for his mesmeric piano skills, the talented performer will delight his fans at the Dubai World Trade Centre on April 4th and 5th.Yanni is one of the most creative musicians on the planet and his live shows are usually adapted to include elements of traditional local music depending on where he is performing.The back-to-back gigs form part of his world tour and fans can expect to hear all of his old tunes, as well as a selection of hits from his latest album Truth of Touch.Yanni has added a contemporary twist to classical music and has managed to popularise the genre in the process.Of course, the Greek star is not the only big name expected to perform live in the UAE this year.A lot has been made of the clash between two high-profile gigs on January 31st.Rap icon Kanye West will take to the stage at the du Arena in Abu Dhabi, while Guns N' Roses legend Slash will join Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators at a show at Dubai's Aviation Club on the same night.This reiterates the point that the UAE is capable of attracting all manner of top-class stars and shows that music fans in the Middle East are spoilt for choice these days.The likes of Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent and Nicki Minaj all wowed their fans in the UAE last year and there will be some historic gigs in 2013 too.One that stands out in particular is the appearance of The Stone Roses at the Media City Amphitheatre next month, while global heartthrob Justin Bieber will also perform in Dubai in May.
