Dubai government lands Hall of Fame Award

The Dubai government has been given the prestigious Hall of Fame Award at a glitzy ceremony in Boston in the US.This is only the fourth time that a governing body has received the prize and it is recognition for the positive work that has gone into the Dubai Strategic Plan, the Khaleej Times reports.Founded by Harvard Business School professors Robert Kaplan and David Norton, the accolade aims to reward organisations that have implemented successful programmes.There is no doubt that Dubai's government has worked tirelessly to stimulate growth in the emirate.Businesses from all over the world are keen to set up bases in this part of the Gulf because they know that everything is in place to help them expand.Numerous studies have shown that companies are impressed with the business opportunities that are available in Dubai and much of this is down to the positivity of the government.Not only does the city have a favourable tax system, it also benefits from excellent trade links with other major markets around the globe.The Hall of Fame Award was picked up by the Dubai Executive Council (DEC) and secretary general of the organisation Abdulla Al Shaibani told the news provider the prize was richly deserved."[DEC] spared no effort on translating the directives of Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, crown prince of Dubai and chairman of DEC, to mechanisms and systems on the ground," he was quoted as saying."These aimed at making the Dubai government one of the most effective and competent governments in the world through making them an integral part of the corporate identity of the government."There have been numerous examples of legislative reforms that have made Dubai increasingly attractive to investors.One recent case that stood out in particular was the Real Estate Investor Protection Law, which is aimed at giving Dubai property investors more guarantees and protection.The law is expected to take effect in the first quarter of 2013, according to Emirates 24/7.
