The sporting credentials of the UAE could soon be given a significant boost. That is after Hamdan Al Kamali took another step toward becoming the first Emirati football player to sign for a major European club.French Ligue 1 club is back in the hunt for the Al Wahda defender's signature after having their advances rebuffed in the summer. In an interview with The National, the soccer ace revealed that discussions are underway but nothing concrete has materialised yet."We have been talking but not reached an agreement yet. For now, I am only focused on the important game against Jazira. So anything that may be discussed further on the negotiations or reaching an agreement will be after this match," he told the news provider. The move would boost the UAE's sporting credentials as Al Kamali would gain a larger profile while playing in France.Khaled Awadh, Al Wahda's deputy chief executive, said the move could well lead to improvements in the UAE national team."There is no problem in releasing the player if he benefits from his time in Europe. Hamdan is valuable to us as well as the national team, and we must look after his welfare," he added.
