The number of people flocking into Abu Dhabi for a holiday could be set to rise.That is after Total Travel highlighted the emirate's meteoric rise from a fishing village on the edge of the desert to a gleaming global city.According to the Yahoo website, the transformation means that holidaymakers are now drawn to the emirate in "droves".Indeed, as well as being a superb holiday destination, the portal also highlighted the emirate as the ideal stopover for people flying to Australia."Sandwiched between sand, skyscrapers and shopping souks, you'll find magnificent mosques, a shining Formula One race circuit, the world's largest indoor theme park and resplendent hotels," the site explained."Abu Dhabi is one of seven emirates comprising the UAE. Apart from oil, niche tourism is its major focus and this emirate is out to attract visitors."The emirate's bustling calendar could well see property investors benefit from growing tourist numbers this year.Events including the Formula One Grand Prix, the Volvo Ocean race and pro-golf and tennis tournaments are set to take place over the coming months.
