The summer months are set to be anything but quiet for Dubai’s thriving hotel industry. Thanks to a host of promotions launched in conjunction with the Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) Festival, industry experts say hotels in the emirate can expect occupancy levels of around 80%. Now into its 14th edition, DSS runs this year from 22nd June – 31st July. Since the very first event back in 1998, more than 17.5 million people have spent a collective 22.5 billion dirhams during DSS.
The first quarter of 2011 has to date been a highly positive one for Dubai’s hospitality industry. Events such as the Dubai Shopping Festival and now Dubai Summer Surprises have helped to boost tourism, occupancy and revenue across many of the city’s hotels.
