Property investors in Ras al Khaimah (RAK) could be buoyed by the suggestion that the emirate could become a new sailing hub.Earlier this month, a catamaran sponsored by the Royal Yacht Club of Ras al Khaimah and crewed by a Dutch team, came second in the F18 Multihull World Championships in Hungary, while the second team came in 50th out of 100 yachts.Speaking to The National, Alan Linnitt, manager of Al Hamra Marina and Royal Yacht Club, said that the trophies could encourage more people in RAK to get sailing."Because of their strong heritage with the sea, it would be easier for them to accept sailing and sports on the water," he claimed, noting that catamarans are an accessible sport in RAK quick to learn on."It is our aim to put Ras al Khaimah on the map as a sailing destination," he added."We have the best venue in the Middle East when it comes to sailing, we have the infrastructure, the weather, the resources and facilities for all."
