Dubai’s hotel occupancy levels topped 81.3% in April, marking a rise of 8.7% on 2010, according to new figures released by STR Global. The increase in visitor numbers also served to push up the city’s revenue per available room (RevPar) levels by an impressive 13.3%, to an average of $217. Events across the emirate such as the Gulf Film Festival, Faithless World Tour and the Sundance Beach Festival were just some of the factors that helped to drive April’s tourism boom.
Dubai’s hotel industry has certainly hit the ground running in 2011, with occupancy levels throughout the first quarter averaging 82%. Levels in February have been the highest of the year to date, with some hotels, including The First Group’s Dubai Sports City property, The Diamond hotel apartments, maxing out at 100% occupancy.
