Dubai’s tourism industry is positively thriving according to new figures released by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, DDTCM. In 2010, the total number of hotel and hotel apartment guests rose by more than 10% to almost 8.7 million. This figure includes cruise tourists numbers, which shot up by 50% to over 390,000.
The hospitality industry has also been counting the profits thanks to this increase in visitor figures. According to the report, guest nights across all types of properties has risen by an impressive 16.5% year on year, clocking in at 26.6 million nights - an average of three nights stay per guest. Hotel revenues also registered a 6% annual growth to Dhs 13.3 billion. Looking to the future, analysts say the forecast is positive – good news for those who have, or are looking to invest in the city’s vibrant hotel sector.
