Hotels and hotel apartments across Dubai recorded an impressive 13.6% rise in guest numbers during the first quarter of this year. That’s according to the latest report by Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM). The increase pushed the total visitor numbers in venues across the city up to 2.38 million, rising from 2.09 million for the same period in 2010. Out of the 1.84 million guests who checked into Dubai’s hotel establishments, 533,190 chose to stay in hotel apartments.
The average number of nights stay per guest also increased by 35.4% to a staggering 8.4 million nights in the first quarter of 2011, compared to 6.2 million in Q1 last year, with each guest averaging at least four nights. This in turn pushed hotel revenues up by 16.3% to Dhs 3.75 billion. Out of this, hotels generated Dhs 3.73 billion, while hotel apartments generated Dhs 623.87 million.
