Retail sales at Dubai Duty Free increased by 13 per cent in the first quarter of 2011 compared to the same period last year.
The group has announced that the first three months of this year saw sales of Dh1.25 billion
Colm McLoughlin, managing director of Dubai Duty Free said: "During the first quarter, we have seen substantial increases in our top categories in addition to growth in other categories, all of which is extremely encouraging and we are optimistic that this year will be another record year for Dubai Duty Free."
According to figures form the report, liquor, perfumes and gold were the top three sales categories, with perfume sales generating Dh174 million - a 16 per cent increase on 2010.
Sales of gold grew by 13 per cent on last year to Dh138.5 million, while confectionery also saw a rise of eight percent to DH94 million.
Mr McLoughlin added: "2010 was an excellent year with sales of $1.27 billion and we are looking at topping that by at least ten per cent this year.
