Dubai Media City Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary

Dubai Media City (DMC) is a decade old this month! DMC was first established in 2001 with just 99 companies on board. Today it is home to more than 1,400 multinational businesses and hundreds of freelancers. Located across the Sheikh Zayed Road from the Tecom business district of New Dubai, DMC is just a short distance from The First Group’s three hotel apartment developments; Metro Central, Grand Central and First Central. It also forms part of Tecom’s media cluster which includes neighbouring free zones, Dubai Internet City and Knowledge Village.

“The successful completion of 10 years of operation by Dubai Media City, the first project in Tecom's media cluster, bears testimony to Dubai's contribution to the media industry,” commented Jamal Al Sharif, Managing Director of Dubai Media City and Dubai Studio City. “The presence of major international and local media houses reflects not only the growth of DMC but the success stories of these entities as well."

In 2009, DMC was presented with the Newsweek Award of Excellence for its
outstanding contribution to the media industry in creating a world class environment under 'one roof'. It was also ranked first under 'Best Promotion' and second in the 'Best Incentives' categories globally and in the Middle East by FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) magazine's 2010 annual report of global free zones.
