Dubai Internet City (DIC) has become the first business hub in the region to offer a ‘greener’ office environment. The free zone area located directly opposite Tecom in ‘New Dubai’ recently opened the ‘Firststeps@DIC Business Centre - a unique facility that allows companies to lease short term office space. The environmentally friendly spaces incorporate measures such as the efficient use of daylight and artificial lighting to help cut energy costs, low VOC (volatile organic compounds) carpets, paints and furniture, and special energy saving office equipment.
Pioneered by DIC and TECOM Investments, the initiative is aimed at making buildings across the city more sustainable. Commenting at the launch, Majed Al Suwaidi, Director of Business Development at Dubai Internet City said: "Green offices and technologies are becoming relevant today as organisations want to become socially responsible while simultaneously contributing to the society. The community will also benefit from such a step as it makes the environment healthy and productive for its employees.”
