Investment to the tune of DH 5.7 billion is being poured in to the northern emirates to help make improvements to the water and electricity sectors, it has been revealed.
President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered the investment following a recent tour of the northern emirates to study the conditions and needs of UAE citizens.
Under the proposed improvement plans, electricity supply is to be provided to buildings and shops belonging to citizens in the region, Gulf News reports.
The president also ordered the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity company to supply the Federal Electricity and Water Authority with around 1,300 megawatts of power to meet projected demand.
HH Khalifa also issued instructions for the construction of a 100-kilometre main water pipeline to supply the area, the news provider noted.
The investments follow the desire of the country's leaders to make full use of its resources, develop infrastructure, to enhance essential services and to provide satisfactory living standards for citizens.
