The UAE has been voted the world's premier destination for meetings, it has been reported.
Following the canvassing of more than 500 buyers at the recent Gulf Incentive, Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition, the country was voted number one in a list of 14 nations.
When put further under the microscope, Abu Dhabi was revealed as the leading emirate within the UAE, offering the greatest satisfaction in the Middle East Meetings Industry Research Report.
Rob Nicholas, publisher of Meetme Magazine, which conducted the research in conjunction with Reed Travel Exhibitions, commented: "Abu Dhabi's developing infrastructure, such as the increased diversity of exhibition space and better balance of hotel star mix, is leading to significant growth across the meetings industry."
Abu Dhabi then topped the list of emirate destinations after achieving an excellence rating of 3.47 out of four.
The comments follows the news that Marriott Hotels is to open two new properties in Abu Dhabi by 2014, including the 315-room Abu Dhabi Marriott Hotel and the 64-unit city centre Marriott Executive Apartments development.
