Jebel Ali Metro Station has become the latest stop to open on the Dubai Metro, bringing the total number of stations to 27.
Running along the Red Line, it opened today (March 11th) following an inspection by the chief executive of Rail Agency Adnan Al Hammadi and chairmain of operator RTA Mattar Al Tayer.
The station is the only one to be built at ground level and has a capacity to handle 11,000 passengers an hour in each direction. It will deploy 24 trains during peak times in the morning and 29 trains during the evening rush hour.
Mr Al Tayer commented: "Through Serco Co., the Metro operator, RTA has finalized all technical trail runs of the metro … RTA has also completed the training of front-end and customer service employees at the stations on various systems and the staff have already been deployed at the station following the completion of intensive training courses in customer service, implementation of regulations and procedures set out by the RTA ."
It will mainly serve the Jebel Ali Free Zone and Jebel Ali Port.
