A greater number of families are flocking to the Dubai International Boat Show this year as many models become even more affordable, it has been suggested.
Smaller boats ranging from Dhs140,000 to Dhs200,000 have received major interest in the first three days of the show, Gulf Craft has claimed.
Erwin Bamps, chief operating officer of the firm, said that many manufacturers and retailers have realised that there is an increasing demand for mid-sized and smaller vessels and are taking the opportunity to widen their portfolios.
"Even with the larger boats, people are expecting much more added value and they are getting that in the form of extra fittings, furnishings and so on," he explained.
"But the market is also becoming much more affordable and accessible to people who have regarded it before as very much a luxury leisure pursuit that would always be out of their price range."
Mr Bamps noted that as a result of this greater affordability, there are now many more boat owners who own their crafts purely for leisure pursuits, such as fishing trips and days out.
