Dubai Trade, a major trade facilitator operating as part of Dubai World, has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Emirates SkyCargo aimed at improving air freight services in the region.
Under the MoU, users of Dubai Trade's portal, dubaitrade.ae, will be able to directly access the air freight services of Emirates Sky Cargo through the website while payment for the services is made directly to the cargo service provider.
Jamal Majid Bin Thaniah, group chief executive officer of Dubai World, described the initiative as a stepping stone towards the full-scale integration of sea-air cargo movement, adding that it would thereby strengthen Dubai's competitive advantage as the region's leading trading hub.
"The MoU also opens the doors to future integration of the customer database of Emirates Sky Cargo with Dubai Trade's user database to enable a more seamless supply chain experience," he added.
Emirates SkyCargo has a network of 109 destinations in 65 countries, bringing thousands of international trade connections to Dubai every year.
