Dubai is regarded as the world's best shopping destination among consumers in the Arab world, new research shows.
The survey by Yahoo! Maktoob Research found that 32 per cent of Arab shoppers rated Dubai as the best from a list that also included such cities as London, Paris and New York, Gulf News reported.
Commenting on the finding, the newspaper suggested that Dubai had cemented its reputation as a popular shopping destination thanks to the various proactive marketing initiatives of the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).
These have included major shopping events such as the Dubai Shopping Festival and Dubai Summer Surprises.
Dubai was followed in the ranking by Paris with 13 per cent of the vote, while Beijing, Istanbul and London shared third place with five per cent each.
"Dubai has an exciting mix of amenities that give customers a truly unique and pleasurable shopping experience. The DTCM will build on this distinction to develop more innovative campaigns and promotional activities that will further reinforce the reputation of Dubai as the world's shopping capital," commented Eyad Ali Abdul Rahman, the department's executive director of media relations and business development.
