AerCap, a leading independent aircraft leasing company, has announced the opening of a new representative office in the UAE.
The company said that the new Abu Dhabi office will form a base for expanding its activities in the Middle East/North Africa (MENA) region, which it described as "one of the world's fastest growing aviation markets".
AerCap has a total fleet of 350 aircraft including 14 aircraft on lease to seven airlines in the MENA region.
The company, which is headquartered in the Netherlands and has offices around the world, also stated that it has over $10 billion of total assets including committed purchases.
"AerCap's new Abu Dhabi office will be managed by a team of highly skilled aviation industry professionals with extensive experience in the region and will be led by Simon McLean, previously chief operating officer of Waha Leasing," it reported.
The news comes after Maximus Air Cargo, the UAE's largest dedicated cargo aircraft operator, this week announced a major expansion to its fleet.
