Hilton Hotels have announced they will open their first Waldorf Astoria hotel in Dubai. The news comes as a huge coup for Dubai’s hotel industry, which continues to attract investment from the world’s top hotel names. The luxurious resort, which is at the top of Hilton’s portfolio, will be located on the Palm Jumeirah. The property is already being built by the Al Habtoor group, who recently announced they were restarting work on the Dh1 billion project, which was put on hold during the financial crisis.
Hilton will now take over operations of the hotel under the Waldorf Astoria brand, a name that has attracted more than its fair share of famous guests, including US presidents and film legend, Marilyn Monroe, who all stayed in New York’s Waldof Astoria hotel. The Palm Jumeirah’s version will feature 324 rooms and is scheduled to open at the end of 2013. Hilton also has plans to launch residences at Jumeirah Beach Residence, located opposite its existing hotel on The Walk.
