The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) is planning to build more healthcare facilities in the ‘New Dubai’ area, which spans zones such as Tecom, Al Barsha and Dubai Marina. Currently a large proportion of facilities are centered in ‘Old Dubai’ in areas such as Deira and Bur Dubai. Reports say the plans are part of a Dubai Health Strategy that aims to improve all aspects of healthcare over the next two years.
The DHA has already started investing in a number of healthcare projects in the emirate, two of which are located in the Al Barsha area. The Saudi German hospital is one of those projects, and is situated right behind Tecom, home to The First Group’s trio of hotel apartment developments. Another includes the Al Barsha Primary Healthcare clinic, a state-of-the-art centre which is due to open in mid 2012. The Dh50 million clinic is located in Al Barsha 2, also just minutes away from the Tecom business district.
