Interior design contracting projects in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) had a combined value of $22 billion from 2009 to 2010, new research shows.

According to Index 2010, an upcoming interior design event in Dubai, the Middle East is still "a buoyant market" for projects, Gulf News reported.

Indeed, it was also noted that interior design services in the UAE alone are expected to be worth some $14.6 billion this year.

Index 2010, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, brings top international designers and brands together. Last year, over 1,000 exhibitors from over 50 countries participated.

Among this year's innovative exhibitors is Toshiro Alloy from Japan who will showcase "Moonlight" - a unique metal design concept that uses handcast, pure tin surface panels, Gulf News said.

"This year's show will be truly a celebration of the best the world has to offer in design," commented Lu Buchanan, Index event director.

Index 2010 will take place between November 8th-11th at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
