A growing number of UAE companies are aiming to fulfil their corporate social responsibilities and put sustainability at the top of their agendas, it has been observed.
Next month, Dubai will host the Corporate Social Responsibility Arabia Awards on behalf of the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG), 7Days reported.
Commenting on the event, EEG chairman Habiba Al Marashi noted that UAE firms have been keen to put themselves forward for the awards and workshops as more Arab businesses come to appreciate the growing challenges of globalisation.
"On the other hand they are faced with increasing demands for transparency and good governance from governments and other stakeholders," she told 7Days. "The complexity of these dilemmas demands a long term strategic approach to sustainability and corporate social responsibility."
It was also noted that this year, 41 out of the 68 entrants are from the UAE, with 32 making their debut. These include major companies like DP World as well as government departments such as Dubai RTA.
The winner will be announced on October 28th.
