Ras Al Khaimah-based RAK Ceramics, the world's largest ceramic tile manufacturer, is participating in Project Iraq 2010, a dedicated trade event for construction industry materials and technologies, which began today (September 27th).
The company is participating in conjunction with Laticrete RAK, Kludi RAK and Zad Trading, RAK Ceramics' exclusive dealer in Iraq, the Khaleej Times reported.
As the newspaper observed, RAK Ceramics' focus on Iraq comes as the Iraqi government undertakes a huge $70 billion plan to invest in key sectors, including $25 billion on housing projects.
Deputy chief executive officer Abdallah Massaad said: "RAK Ceramics has already identified various potential projects and prospects in Iraq, particularly in the northern region, which we intend to transform into concrete business deals during our participation at Project Iraq."
It was also suggested that the company's reputation as an industry leader will certainly give it a strong competitive edge in the Iraqi market, providing it with greater leverage to penetrate niche markets.
The event runs until September 30th at the Erbil International Fair Ground.
