Dubai Industrial City (DIC), a leading manufacturing and logistics destination in the UAE, has announced that United Metal Coating (UMC) has commenced operations at a 195,000 sq ft facility on its premises.
According to DIC, the facility is a state-of-the-art continuous coil coating line, located in its base metals zone.
UMC will use the site to manufacture pre-painted aluminium and galvanised steel coils in various thicknesses and widths with an annual production capacity of 75,000 metric tonnes.
These are used for the end-application of building products including roofing and claddings, as well as interior false ceilings and rolling shutters.
Souheil Hatoum, managing partner of UMC, said: "More than 50 per cent of our products from this facility will be exported to Europe while the remaining quantity will be slated for consumption in the UAE, GCC and Middle East."
It was also claimed that operating from DIC would make UMC more competitive by allowing it to benefit from "the top of the range facilities offered by the comprehensive industrial destination".
DIC, a member of TECOM Investments, is spread across 560 million sq ft of land.
