UPS, the global package delivery, transportation and logistics company, has recorded considerable growth in its freight loads in the UAE over the past year.
John Tansey, general manager at UPS UAE, noted that since the company opened an office in Abu Dhabi a year ago, it has witnessed a significant increase in inbound freight loads and transfer clearance between the emirates.
Speaking to Emirates Business 24/7, he added: "The UAE is an important market for UPS - it is home to our main hub in the region, in Dubai - and one we believe has great potential moving forward."
He observed that the UAE's location as a bridge between the US, Europe and emerging economies in the east makes it particularly attractive to a transportation company.
The comments come after UPS recently announced a new joint venture that will be headquartered in Dubai for co-ordinating its express package, freight forwarding and contract logistics services across the Middle East, Turkey and certain parts of central Asia.
