The Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Ramadan Festival has got under way at the RAK Exhibition Centre.
Organised by the RAK Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the third edition of the festival will feature various cultural, religious, shopping and entertainment events as part of the holy month of Ramadan.
Shaikh Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi, the son of Shaikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, crown prince and deputy ruler of RAK, was present at a special inauguration ceremony for the festival, which runs until September 9th.
"The RAK Ramadan Festival has become a much-awaited event for people across the emirates," said Shaikh Mohammed bin Saud.
"Apart from promoting RAK as a major cultural and entertainment destination, the festival caters to the shopping requirements of families during the Ramadan season and provides a boost to the local economy through increased retail trade."
Meanwhile, a recent study by Oxford Business Group suggested that the diverse range of free trade zones being developed in RAK is helping to drive the emirate's impressive economic growth.
