Dubai reports rising demand for luxury food

The UAE's appetite for luxury food has increased markedly in recent years, the organisers of a new trade fair have claimed.

Indeed to meet this rising demand, the first Speciality Food Festival will run from October 31st to November 2nd, 2010, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Emirates Business 24/7 reported.

The event will seek to attract industry leaders by showcasing some of the most sought after fine food and drink products sourced from specialist and international suppliers, the newspaper said.

Event organiser Trixee Loh commented: "The demand for artisan food and high end tastes is huge in this region and the market continues to hold strong."

"The Speciality Food Festival offers the ideal platform for these specialist buyers, chefs and suppliers to meet, taste, sample and network."

In addition, it was suggested that the strong potential of the fine foods market in the UAE can be seen in the region's luxury hotel sector, with Dubai alone having 66 five-star hotels that cater to international and affluent clients.
