Dubai property investment could be given a major boost as schools in the UAE are to be given an upgrade.

Total Facilities Management Services, MAF Dalkia Middle East and the Ministry of Education have teamed up to improve and develop the educational facilities in the northern Emirates.

It forms part of the ministry's New Education Strategy 2010 - 2020 initiative, which aims to develop solutions to enhance the learning environment for students in the region.

This year, 84 schools will become the first to receive the upgraded services, which will include maintenance and repair improvements.

More schools will form part of the project over the next five years, with services including additional security, cleaning and janitorial services.

Najeeba Yousif, director of The Facilities Management Department, commented: "All three parties involved in this initiative have an ambition to provide a secure and healthy environment that will hopefully inspire the children in their education while maintaining their physical health."
