The Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research (KUSTAR) has signed an agreement with electronic systems company Thales for the development of a new educational, research and development programme in engineering for the UAE.
According to the Khaleej Times, the programme, which will be delivered at KUSTAR, will be geared towards fulfilling the human resources needs of both local and foreign companies and institutions in areas like system engineering, software engineering, communications and radar technology.
The scheme will involve advanced courses, practical projects, seminars for undergraduate and graduate programmes, postgraduate programmes and the implementation of joint research and development projects, the newspaper said.
It was also observed that the KUSTAR-Thales partnership will support the Abu Dhabi government's strategy of developing and sustaining national assets and human capital in the UAE's hi-tech industrial fields.
Meanwhile, a recent report issued by the Swiss-based World Economic Forum ranked the UAE sixth in the world in a study of the best infrastructure systems.
