Dubai's status as one of the world's top luxury travel destinations is to be given a further boost when the Queen Elizabeth stops off in the emirate next year.
At the start of this year, following on from a major infrastructure construction project, a new port serving Dubai opened at Port Rashid.
Now it has been confirmed that Cunard Line will be including the emirate on the maiden voyage of its latest luxury liner, which is due to take place in March.
It is anticipated that as many as 2,000 high-spending passengers will dock in Dubai, with these to be followed by a visit of the Queen Mary 2, again boosting Dubai's reputation as a top-end travel destination.
"Globally the Middle East is being seen as a popular stopping-off point," John Podaras, the associated director of TRI Hospitality Consulting, told the National.
"This is exactly what the market needs and I think Dubai has got it right. They have positioned themselves correctly."
Just recently, it was confirmed that work has started on the La Hoya Bay holiday property project, with the Khoie Group confident that it will be ready by the end of the year.
