Emirates, the international airline of the UAE, launched its first flight to Prague yesterday (July 1st), marking its second European route launch this year and 103rd destination globally.
The airline said passengers from more than 20 countries joined the inaugural flight to Prague including travellers from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, India, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Malaysia, Singapore, China, South Korea and from as far afield as Australia.
Emirates' daily, non-stop Prague service comes after the airline began flights to Amsterdam on May 1st this year.
"The Czech Republic is a popular tourist destination and an exciting emerging market," commented Tim Clark, president of Emirates Airline. "The route is off to a good start with passengers joining the inaugural flight to Prague from more than 20 countries across the world, underscoring the hub role of Dubai and the boost this new link will provide to the Czech tourism industry."
He confirmed the company plans to continue with its current expansion drive, with flights to Madrid starting on August 1st and to Dakar in Senegal a month after that.
