Abu Dhabi Motors, the exclusive importer for BMW in the emirate, has reported a 38 per cent increase in sales of the luxury car brand for the first half of 2010.
In a statement, the company said a total of 1,707 BMW and MINI cars were delivered to customers, with the flagship BMW 7-Series remaining the top selling model in the capital with 506 cars sold.
That amounted to an increase of 95 per cent, followed by the BMW X5 with 362 cars sold - an increase of 11 per cent.
Meanwhile, the BMW X6 Sports Activity Coupe, a popular model in the emirate, achieved sales of 348 cars and growth of five per cent, the company revealed.
"Our tremendous sales growth over the first six months of this year that has made us the highest volume seller for BMW Group products in the region is largely attributed to the company's quality offerings and the dedication of our staff during a busy period which saw the arrival of six new BMW models in our showrooms," commented Arno Husselmann, general manager at Abu Dhabi Motors.
A Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry analysis this week claimed that the UAE's transportation sector is currently showing strong potential for positive growth.
