Saudi holidaymakers have a special affinity with Dubai, a promotions official has claimed.
Speaking to Arab News at a roadshow event for Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS), Mohammed Ali Al-Kamali, acting marketing director of DSS, said visitors from Saudi Arabia would particularly enjoy this year's festival of shopping and tourism events.
He commented: "DSS is firmly etched in the minds of Saudi vacationers and we expect many more of them to enjoy the surprises this year than in the last few years."
DSS, which began yesterday (June 17th) and runs until August 7th, will feature over 150 participating retail outlets this year and offer "unbeatable bargains, daily raffle draws, family entertainment shows, spa discounts and signature events during the Middle East's biggest summer extravaganza".
As Arab News observed, the 2009 edition of DSS attracted 2.2 million visitors to Dubai, which resulted in consumer expenditure totaling AED3.37 billion, an increase of around five per cent on DSS 2008.
Mr Al-Kamali noted that since DSS was launched in 1998, an increasing number of visitors from Saudi Arabia and elsewhere in the GCC have attended.
