A significant proportion of employers in the Gulf region are increasing the benefits and bonuses paid to staff, it has been revealed.
A survey by benefits consulting firm Towers Watson found that 42 per cent of Gulf employers are offering enhanced end-of-service gratuities or benefits to some of their employees, Emirates Business 24/7 reported.
It also discovered that one-third of employers are providing retirement or savings plans for their workers.
Speaking to the news provider, Iain Collins, senior consultant at Towers Watson, said: "Employers are paying more as a way to retain high- value employees, who may also happen to have a significant number of years' service with the organisation."
In addition, the survey revealed that 67 per cent of the organisations that provide enhanced service benefits do so for all their employees, with 25 per cent providing them for specific job categories only.
Out of these job categories, the most common were top management, general management and professional and clerical.
Meanwhile, it was reported earlier this week that the value of Dubai's direct exports grew at an average rate of 14 per cent during the first four months of this year.
