flydubai, Dubai's first low cost airline, received its ninth Boeing 737-800NG this week, marking its latest on-time aircraft delivery in less than 13 months of operation.
The airline, which began operations on June 1st, 2009, has seen a strong demand for its service, operating almost 8,000 flights.
In May 2010 alone, flydubai operated 1,000 flights and recorded an on-time performance of 92 per cent, the company said.
It confirmed that the new aircraft will go straight into service on the latest flydubai route, the Dubai-Istanbul service.
The airline added: "The on-time delivery demonstrates flydubai's commitment to expanding its network of services by not deferring any orders and continuing towards the target of 13 delivered aircraft by the end of 2010."
flydubai was set up by the Dubai government as a means of boosting tourism in the emirate. It is currently planning to start new services to Istanbul in Turkey, Colombo in Sri Lanka, Latakia in Syria and Karachi in Pakistan this year.
