The Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry has revealed that the total exports and re-exports of its members during May 2010 amounted to AED 17.5 billion - an 18 per cent increase year-on-year.
In addition, the chamber issued a total of 55,777 certificates of origin to its members during the month, which amounted to a seven per cent increase on the previous month's total of 52,143 certificates issued.
There was also growth in the number of exporting members to 4,814 from the previous month's 4,645.
The research showed that the Gulf Cooperation Council continues to be a major export market for the Dubai Chamber's members. Saudi Arabia was again the leading export market in the region, with export value reaching AED 4.1 billion, up by six per cent on the previous month's AED 3.9 billion.
Meanwhile, a survey of regional business and financial executives at the Arqaam Capital Dubai Beirut Forum this week found that Dubai is still forecast to be the Middle East's top business hub in 2015.
