Drake & Skull International (DSI), a Dubai-listed contracting company, has said it will look to explore new opportunities in the Arab world during the second half of this year.
Khaldoun Tabari, DSI's chief executive, told reporters this week that the company is "cautiously bullish" about its prospects for the rest of 2010 as it looks to tap emerging markets, the Khaleej Times reported.
"We look to have by year-end a backlog of Dh5 billion to Dh6 billion and we are on track to do that," Mr Tabari said, adding: "We expect to see a pick-up in things in the third and fourth quarter as projects kick in."
He also confirmed that DSI, a contractor specialising in mechanical, engineering and plumbing work, is looking to enter the Indian market by forming a joint venture with a local firm.
As the Khlaeej Times noted, Drake & Scull announced earlier this week that it has won orders valued at Dh240 million in Abu Dhabi.
Last week, Ubitech, a world-class aeronautical communications company, and Bayanat Airports Engineering & Supplies, a leading airport systems integrator, announced a new strategic partnership aimed at delivering state-of-the-art systems and services to the Middle East and Gulf regions.
