Abu Dhabi International Airport is aiming to achieve passenger growth of up to 11 per cent this year, a company executive has said.
In an interview with the Khaleej Times, Ahmed Mohammed Al Haddabi, a senior vice-president at Abu Dhabi Airport Company, noted that the airport last year recorded a growth rate of about 7.3 per cent and handled nearly ten million passengers.
"This year we will cross the milestone of ten million passengers by significant levels," he said.
Mr Al Haddabi also confirmed that Abu Dhabi International will look to receive more airlines this year.
"We are improving the infrastructure at the airport accommodating the expected increase in both the passengers and airlines. We are making all-out efforts to make air travel through our airport a pleasant experience," he added.
The comments were made from the sidelines of the Global Civil Aviation Search and Rescue Forum, which was organised jointly by the International Civil Aviation Organisation of the United Nations and the General Civil Aviation Authority of the UAE.
