RBK Middle East, the Dubai-based distributor of Reebok, has said it will open 26 new stores in the Gulf by 2014.
The announcement comes after both companies signed an extension of their partnership and also launched two special collections of Reebok for the region, the Khaleej Times reported.
RBK Middle East currently has 14 Reebok mono-branded stores in the Gulf and expects to take this number to 40 by the end of 2014, with six new stores being rolled out this year.
On a visit to the UAE to sign the new contract with Reebok, RBK Middle East chief executive David Reilly said the US sports clothing and equipment brand had performed strongly in the region over the last couple of years despite the global downturn.
Meanwhile, commenting on the launch of the new EA7 clothing collection, which has been designed in partnership with Armani, Osman Ayaz, managing director of emerging markets at Reebok's parent company, adidas Group, added: "Consumers in the Gulf region are very brand conscious. This collaboration offers a new perspective for the design and fashion-minded, active consumer."
The UAE was recently ranked second in the world among the countries which attract the most international retailers in CB Richard Ellis' (CBRE) How Global is the Business of Retail? 2010 report.
